Versant®, the only competency‐based solution dedicated to developing all nurses, has partnered with Bassett Healthcare Network and its Family Nurse Practitioner Residency Program to implement the Versant Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Fellowship™.
The Versant Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Fellowship utilizes Versant’s Competency-Based System to transition primary and acute care APRNs into competent and confident practitioners. Over the last 20 years, Versant has proven to be the leader in transition to practice programs. Its work with organizations has resulted in higher quality of care scores, increased retention, improved workforce satisfaction and self-efficacy.
Bassett Healthcare Network established its Family Nurse Practitioner Residency Program after being awarded a HRSA grant to provide a transition to practice program for advanced practice registered nurses with a goal of improving primary care access in rural areas. Both organizations recognized an opportunity to standardize the onboarding and competency development process for newly graduated nurse practitioners, committing to excellence and development of the nursing workforce.

“Bassett’s program orients newly graduated nurses through the unique complexities of rural practice,” says Greg Rys, DNP, FNP-BC, Principal Investigator of HRSA grant and Program Director for Bassett Healthcare Network’s NP Residency. “It is a one-year residency. They see comprehensive populations of patients and gain experience in diverse areas of family medicine practice, including internal medicine, pediatrics, women’s health annual screenings, and treating patients who suffer from addiction. We’re proud to support them as they begin their career and clinical journey.”
