September 25, 2019: Las Vegas, NV – Versant®, the only competency‐based solution dedicated to developing all nurses, has partnered with the Visiting Nursing Association of Western New York (VNA of WNY) to implement the Versant Home Health Transition to Practice™ Program. The VNA is one of the first agencies in Western New York to institute a program in which new graduate nurses can be hired and gradually transitioned into home health care practice with both personal and electronic mentorship.
Versant Home Health Transition to Practice offers a comprehensive solution for assessment, remediation, and validation of competencies at the point-of-care. New graduate and transitioning nurses will develop acute care competencies, while supplementing core skills with specialty competencies designed for a home health setting. Integral to the program are preceptors and managers who are key to ensuring new grads and experienced nurses transitioning to Home Health are competency validated.
Founded in 1885, the VNA of WNY was the first visiting nurses association in the United States. As the largest provider of home health care in the region, the organization is an essential part of the fabric of health care in its community. With a continuous commitment to clinical excellence and support from Blue Cross/Blue Shield of WNY, the organization recognized this partnership as an opportunity to standardize their onboarding and competency development process.
“The best healthcare starts with the best, most competent nurses,” said Versant President, Larissa Africa. “Home health is increasingly recognized as a critical service in our communities. We’re so proud to work with an organization that delivers this service to so many people. Together, we can continue to provide western New York with exceptional nurses who are able to provide safe, competent, and compassionate care where it matters most – at the point of care.
Versant solutions now include New Graduate Residency, Nurse Transition Fellowship, Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Fellowship, Preceptor Role Development, Long Term Care Transition to Practice, Home Health Transition to Practice and Competency Tracking System.
