The Versant RN Residency is evidence-based. Metrics are collected to assist organizations in improving their individual RN residencies and for Versant to improve the RN Residency as a whole.
Outcomes of the RN Residency are analyzed using a wide variety of metrics including, but not limited to, turnover at 12, 24, 36, 48, and 60 months; organization return on investment (ROI); and reliable and validated instruments. These instruments measure such metrics as nurse satisfaction, work satisfaction, organizational commitment, leader empowering behavior, nurse autonomy, turnover intent, group cohesion, and self-confidence; competency assessment through individual competency observation and random in depth assessment using the Nursing Competencies Observation Scale; individual, component, and RN Residency evaluations.
Here are some highlights of our outcomes from the Versant National Database:
FACT: Versant accelerates new graduate RN COMPETENCY. After just 18 weeks, graduates of the Versant RN Residency score higher for nursing skills compentency (documented by trained observers) than comparison groups who have already been in practice for a year and a half (17.1 months)! A competent nurse is a safe nurse who reduces your risk profile.
FACT: Versant accelerates new graduate RN SELF-CONFIDENCE. New graduate RNs experience a higher level of confidence after 18 weeks (self-reported) than comparison groups who have been in practice for a year and a half (17.1 months)! Confident nurses positively impact patient and physician satisfaction.
FACT: Versant dramatically reduces new graduate RN turnover. Client data prior to implementing Versant shows new grad cumulative turnover at 27% after one year and 48% after two years. After implementing Versant, turnover dropped to an average of 7.1% after one year and 18.8% cumulative after two years. Increased orgnizational commitment positively impacts the entire hospital's ability to provide safe, effective care.
FACT: The predictable reduction in turnover will generate a huge return on investment. One Versant hospital client (335-bed adult acute care) saved a cumulative $4,835,000 in four years! In today's low-margin operating evironment, you cannot ignore opportunities to generate that kind of savings.
FACT: Qualitative Studies of the Versant RN Residency indicate that it increases applicant flow and positively impacts patient safety, patient satisfaction, physician satisfaction, team collaboration, and new graduate RN engagement. And, the longer the Versant RN Residency is in place, the greater the "dosing effect" which will literally transform your organization.
FACT: The Versant RN Residency has been used in practice for 11 years, currently serves more than 85 hospitals and has successfully graduated more than 9,000 RNs. We set a practice standard that raises the bar for safety, quality and organizational commitment.
